Dr. Klinghardt is a licensed physician who practises in Europe and the United States.  Please bear in mind that some of his protocols are not applicable to be used in the United States.

In the last decade the majority of outcome-oriented physicians observed a major shift: we realized that it was neither the lack of vitamins nor growth hormone that made our patients ill. We discovered that toxicity and chronic infections were most often at the core of the client’s suffering. We watched the discussion on which infection may be the primary one: mycoplasma, stealth viruses, HHV-6, trichomonas, Chlamydia pneumoniae, leptospirosis, mutated strep, or what else?

The new kid on the block is Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb), and some of us have looked at it for a long time as possibly being the bug that opens the door for all the other infections to enter the system.  Lyme disease has become a buzz word in the alternative medical field. Since none of the recommended treatments are specific to either one of the microbes, we can never assume that we really know what we treated once a patient has recovered.

The Treatment of Lyme Disease with Bee Venom
by Dietrich K. Klinghardt, M.D., Ph.D.

Lyme disease has become, after AIDS, probably the fastest spreading infectious disease. "Classical" Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by a spirochete, Borrelia burgdorferi, which is passed to the patient by a tick bite. Since several other infections that cause similar symptoms can be transmitted by the same tick bite, and other infectious agents not transmitted by a tick can cause similar symptoms, the term "New Lyme Disease" is used by most holistic physicians. Lyme disease is not only a frequent underlying causal factor in chronic human illness, but also extremely common in pets, especially in dogs and horses.

A Few Words on Chronic Lyme Disease

Chronic Lyme disease is a fast-spreading problem in the USA and worldwide. Classical Lyme disease is caused by a bacterial spirochete called Borrelia burgdorferi. Conventional belief attributes Lyme Disease conveyance through tick bites. Interestingly to the physician, more recent literature has shown that also certain stinging flies, spiders and even some mosquitoes can infect humans with this spirochete. This means that the disease vector can be more widespread than previously anticipated. Lyme disease typically does not occur alone but together with a number of co-infections. Classical Lyme disease, also known as Borrelia, affects the immune system in predictable ways: it lowers the white blood count and lessens the host's immunity. When the immune system becomes dysfunctional, the patient then becomes infected with a multitude of secondary bacterial, fungal, mycoplasmal and viral infections. A necessary co-condition for the thriving of infectious organisms in the system is the presence of toxic metals and other environmental toxins.
